Tour de Freaks October

HAPPY HOPPING everyone! Welcome to my ideas for this month’s theme of boxes, bags and bows. I just love making little boxes and such for small gifts and treats around the holiday season! If you are going forward through the hop you have arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert of Inkspired Treasures. Isn’t that elf hat box ADORABLE? She is just sooooo good!
For my hop projects this month, I wanted to incorporate the wonderful Winter Wishes Stitched Felt so I used that along with the Holly Berry Bouquet dsp for all three of the items I’m showing you today. Oh this one is so very quick and easy! I took a piece of the Holly Berry Bouquet dsp and used it with the Fancy Favor box to create the base. Then I did a Top Not Die using Early Espresso textured cardstock. This is folded in half with the back half adhered to the back fo the box. I added a velcro tab to do the closure in on the front of the box then added the wonderful felt wreath (with an addition of a Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ‘Bow’ and some 1/4” Real Red circles) to finish it off. Now…how easy is THAT? And with 4 wreathes in a package you could have 4 small gift holders in no time at all!
I’m going to call this one my ‘peek-a-boo treat holder’ and this is easy too! I started with one of the kraft boxes and punched a 1 3/4” circle in the front. Next I added a 2 x 2 /2 medium window piece to the the front and then wrapped around a 2” strip of the dsp (with a hole punched in the front of course). I had to use two pieces of the dsp…one for front and sides (with some extra on the back) and then a separate piece in the back to finish it off. Next I added some Real Red 1/4” Grosgrain along the top and bottom of the dsp to give it a nice finished look. Next I added a Real Red Satin ‘bow’ to the wreath and added the wreath over my little window. For the top I used a piece of Real Red and the dsp. I punched out a Wild Wasabi 2 3/8” Scallop circle, sponged the edges then did Homemade stamp in Real Red and layered on to the scallop circle using dimensionals. I added the holly leaves to finish off the top. Just a note, you are going to need to use you 1 3/4” circle punch to punch out a notch in your top flap or it shows through the ‘window’.
Do you LOVE gift card holders? I do! And I love finding unique gift card holders. This is an adaptation of an envelope origami fold that I played with and sized down to work with a gift card. PLEASE SO BACK SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23rd and I will have the links for the tutorial and more details! This really just used the piece of Holly Berry dsp that I folded up. I added the panel on the front (because I wanted to use some of the felt pieces), stamped the greeting, added the mittens to the button and added the button to the panel. How extremely easy is THAT! These are just so fun to make…here is my post with the information for making these...they are addictive!.
So that’s my boxes, bags and bows that I have for you. Now it’s time to ‘hop’ on over to the amazing Dawn Olchefske at Do Stamping with Dawn! I LOVE her work!
