WELCOME everyone to the February Tour de Freaks where we are featuring the FABULOUS Stampin’ Up! Dies.  Oh…I do LOVE our dies and can seldom make something without pulling out the Big Shot and finding the perfect die.  If you are going forward through the hop, you have arrived here from the fabulous Connie Babbert of Inkspired Treasures.  Such FANTASTIC projects!

I bought this die (Elegant Bird) when I could first order it from the mini.  I knew when I bought it how I wanted to use if (see next project) but just didn’t get around to it with so many other things to play with!  LOL!!!  So with our theme being die cuts, I couldn’t resist!  You know how I love to use the same colors so here we go…

The base of the card is Calypso Coral.  I took a piece of the Shimmery White and ran it through the Love Letterpress and added it to the card front.  I did the bird body in Calypso Coral and the wings in the embossed Calypso Coral/White heart print from Sweet Shop.  I added the wings to the body using a white button and some Calypso Coral/White Bakers Twine.  The bird was added to the card front using dimensionals.  I did the banner in from the Petal Cone die using Whisper White, stamped the greeting using Calypso Coral then added the Ribbon Punch edge in Calypso Coral.  This was added to the card front using dimensionals.  I finished it off using some Basic Rhinestones.

Now this is what I envisioned when I got the die…using the bird wings for angel wings.  Of course…I can’t say I envisioned it in Calypso Coral/Whisper White Heart Embossed paper - LOL!!!  This is a 5 x 5 white frame and I removed the glass.  I used the Calypso Coral organza ribbon from the SAB Everyday Enchantment pack around the edge.  I used some Tombow Multi-purpose glue to attach it.  I took a piece of Shimmery White, ran it through the LOVE Letterpress plate, stamped the greeting (Pursuit of Happiness) in Calypso Coral then added this to the frame as the base.  I did the ‘angel wings’ again in the Calypso Coral/Whisper White embossed Sweet Shop dsp.  I made a double bow from the Whisper White 5/8” Satin Ribbon and a Printed Designer Brad.  The wings are added to the frame using some sticky strip in the middle and a triple stack of dimensionals under the wings.

So…there’s my projects for this month.  I have to say that although I seldom use a monochromatic look, I thought it worked really nicely for these projects.  I like the very contemporary look for the ‘angel wings’.

Well…it’s time to move on to Lisa Martz’s blog!  Oh she has some wonder treats for you!

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
