Well…we’ve come to the end of the Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Edition 2011!  It has been an AMAZING and INCREDIBLE edition!  I just can’t believe how TALENTED our designers are!  We always end the session with a challenge just for our design team members!

The final challenge for the design team is to do a box or bag and a tag.  I found the COOLEST tutorial on how to make an origami box (which includes the lid) from a single sheet of paper).  You can find the tutorial HERE ... there are both printed ones and a video (I needed the video for folding in the lid the first time).  For mine I used a 12 x 12 piece of dsp.  Once I did figure out the top, it is a FUN box to do!

The box was made from the green print in the Holly Berry Bouquet dsp (LOVE this print!).  I took a strip of Cherry Cobbler and added a ‘ribbon’ made from Crumb Cake and the Lace Ribbon Border punch around it.  I wrapped this around the box to create a ‘belly band’.  I inked the stocking stamp using Wild Wasabi and stamped on Very Vanilla and punched out with the stocking punch.  I inked the top/toe/heel using Cherry Cobbler, stamped on Very Vanilla, punched out and added to the stocking.  I added a linen thread loop to the top of the stocking and then to a piece of Very Vanilla.  This is layered onto Soft Suede.  I made a triple ‘bow’ (click here for my tutorial) using Cherry Cobbler Quilted Ribbon and a green Rhinestone brad, added this to the tag and then to the ‘belly band’ (the rhinestone brad holds the tag to the belly band).

What a fun little box!  You can make them any size as long as you start with a square.  If you want to make it sturdier, add a piece of cardstock to the inside bottom of the box.  Once you get the hang of making these (and it is just a little practice!) you are going to be making a ton of these.

So…head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and see what the Design Team did with their last challenge!  You can still join Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Edition 2011 and have access to ALL the projects we shared these 6 weeks…they really were INCREDIBLE!!!

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
