Are you ready for another GREAT challenge on Create with Connie and Mary?  This week we have a fun sketch challenge for you!  The nice thing about this challenge…you can go simple or you can dress it up!  I dressed it up a bit this week.

Okay…I have to do a little confession here.  This is actually the SECOND card I made for this challenge.  Well, it’s more like I made the first one, decided it was too plain and so I ripped it apart and added some layers and was MUCH happier with it.  When I first came up with this sketch for Create I was thinking “color blocking” but when I sat down to do it…well, I sort of went in a different direction!  LOL!!!

I wanted to go with more ‘non-traditional’ Christmas colors so I found this diagonal stripe print in the Letter to Santa dsp pack and used the colors from this as my inspiration.  The base of the card is Marina Mist.  I took the print, layered it onto Soft Suede and then to the card front using dimensionals.  I took a piece of Whisper White, rounded the corners, cut into the three pieces then put through the Snow Burst Embossing Folder.  This pieces are layered onto Soft Suede (with the corner rounded) using dimensionals and then this panel is added using dimensionals too!  I stamped the stocking in both Marina Mist and Old Olive, punched with the Stocking Builder Punch then punched out the snowflake on the Old Olive one using 3/4” Circle punch and added to the Marina Mist Stocking.  The ‘trim’ is done in Early Espresso and added to the stocking.  I added a loop of Old Olive 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon to the back of the stocking.  I did the banner from the Petal Cone die in Lucky Limeade, stamped Merry Christmas from the Bright Hopes set using Early Espresso, attached the stocking to the banner and then added this to the panel.

Once I did the additional layers and added layers using dimensionals…I was MUCH happier with the way it turned out.  I think it dress it up but still kept it pretty clean looking.  Check out what the design team did with the sketch over on Create with Connie and Mary site.  Such a talented bunch!

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
