Happy Thursday!  Oh…Halloween is ALMOST here and over on Create with Connie and Mary, it has ARRIVED!  This week we have a special theme challenge…HALLOWEEN HAUNTS!  Don’t you want to join us?

Okay…I’ve been sick most of this week…it started last Friday and I think I’m FINALLY on the mend!  I even didn’t go to school Monday…and I don’t miss school!  I finally started feeling a little better Monday late night and so started to work on my challenge. I honestly had NO IDEA what I wanted to do and then I saw this really cute plate from Holly Krautkremer and it totally inspired me to make my plate.

I started with a $1 clear plate I picked up at Wally World.  Next I took a Pumpkin Pie 5 1/2” circle and using Basic Grey ink and post it notes, lightly sponged the ‘clouds’ on there.  It helped to tone down the brightness of the Pumpkin Pie.  I took the medium bat from the Spooky Things decor elements, applied it to the medium window sheets (I wanted it clear when I cut out around it) and mounted it onto the plate with dimensionals stacked 3 high!

Next I inked the Happy Halloween from the Dark and Dreary set, using a Basic Black marker, stamped on Whisper White and punched with the Decorative Label XL punch.  I then punched two more of the Decorative Label shapes from Daffodil Delight…cut one ‘hot dog’ and one ‘hamburger’ and layered on back.  I inked the ‘circle 31’ using the Basic Black marker, stamped on Pumpkin Pie, punched with the 1/2” circle punch and added it to the label using a dimensional.  To make the ‘bow’ I took a vintage brad and spread the prongs in the back apart.  Next I took some Pumpkin Pie 1/8” taffeta ribbon and looped it 3 times on each side.  I then looped the Basic Black Striped Grosgrain 1 1/4” ribbon to look like a bow, layered my loopy 1/8” Pumpkin Pie on top and then put that between the prongs on the back of the vintage brad.  I then folded over the ends (and used my hammer to ‘pound’ them down) and I had my fancy loopy bow.  I added my Happy Halloween under the brad and attached this to my plate.

It needed just a little more so I punched out 3 bats with the bat punch, bent the wings some and added them ‘here and there’ around the bow and label.  Finally it needed just a little bling so there are some rhinestones here and there!  Overall the colors I used were from Stacey’s Curtain Call 53...they worked just PERFECTLY for my challenge this week!

I hope you enjoyed my ‘Halloween Haunt’.  You don’t want to miss what the very talented Create with Connie and Mary Thursday design team did with the challenge so check it out now!  There’s some EXCELLENT ideas over there!

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!
