Today is the official last day of Create with Connie and Mary!  WOW…it has really been a FABULOUS session with sooo many GREAT ideas!  To finish up the session, we challenged the team to create a summer invitation!  Here’s mine…

I decided to make my invitation a pocket card.  I knew that I wanted my invitation to be in the shape of a star and when I started creating my card, I realized it would be fun to carry over some of the card design into the pocket.  In the main picture when the items are together you can see that the stripes matched up.  Now I started with a piece Real Red and then added the Whisper White stripes onto both pieces and lined them up when I was putting them together.  If you were going to make a bunch of these, it would be MUCH easier to use red/white striped paper! 

To make the star shape, I honestly just used the ‘crop shape’ that my photodraw program has and increased it in size to be about 4 x 4.  This worked out to be a good size.  I added the red panel on the top and then the stripes.  I finished it off with a piece of Red 1/4” grosgrain ribbon along the bottom.  The stars were stamped with Brilliant Blue and Real Red (the large star in the set) and then punched with small star punch.  4th of July is inked with Real Red and Brilliant Blue markers, stamped and punched with the 1 1/4” circle punch and layered onto a 1 3/8” Basic Black Circle.

Here’s a picture of my invitation open.  I printed this out on my computer, cut out and added to the inside.  Again I used my star shape from my cropping tool to help me get the different layers.
