Beautiful Birthday
WOW…what a morning here! MAJOR storm blowing through and we have already lost power once. Around here (in Xenia) we always have to be on the lookout for tornadoes…so keep your fingers crossed for us! IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: TOMORROW IS the Tour de Freaks Blog Hop featuring a sneak peek of the Summer Mini! And now back to our regularly scheduled program….
Today on SCS the color challenge is Concord Crush, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla. Hmmmm…no green in there for flowers. Could always use my Tiny Teacup (my solution to ALL color challenges!)...no…need something different. So butterflies…lots and lots and lots of butterflies! I pulled out my Beautiful Wings Embosslits folder, bunches of scraps of dsp and off I went (and right there in the end in the dark…okay…maybe that explains alot…LOL!!!)
The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Crumb Cake. I took a piece of Very Vanilla and ran it through the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder and layered onto Concord Crush. Next I inked the greeting from Full of Life using Crumb Cake and Concord Crush markers, stamped on Very Vanilla, punched out with the wide oval punch, then added using dimensionals. Next I made a ‘bow’ (click here for tutorial) using Crumb Cake Seam Binding and an Incolor Glitter Brad and added to the panel. Finally I took scraps of dsp from the Incolor Paper Pack, Lap of Luxury dsp, Elegant Soiree dsp, and Neutral Paper Pack and made a bunch of butterflies. These are added onto the card front using glue dots (that I rolled up to fit on the back). Then I decided the butterflies needed a little more so I added lots and lots of little pearls. LOVE it! The panel is added to the card front using Dimensionals.
Overall this is really a quick card (well…unless you are trying to add little tiny butterflies to it in the dark!). This is a pretty color combo through and I think worked perfectly for the butterflies! Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

I understand about tornadoes as we have them here in KC too. My family lives in Chillicothe, Oh now and I remember my father went through Xenia a short time before the big one the late 60’s.
I love your card. I’m going to have to get with my friend Leanne who is my stampin’ up gal to get some concord crush. TFS.
